The Times and Opinions of Mike Stewart

Mike sadly left the ISSD Servicedesk on the 23rd July 1999. Below are a few snippets that hopefully sum up his days with ISS and may even coax him back should he be completely deranged ! (Well he is..... so he may !)....

Mike joined the ISS Servicedesk shortly after the Fusion project had closed the High Wycombe helpdesk and directed all non-crewchief areas to call down to Bristol. It was a period of great change, uncertainty and the arrival of a new team-leader, one Anne 'bad-hair day' Connolly. This now sets the scene for what was to come:

Some initial comments from others:

"He seems to know his stuff very well, but clicks his biro around with his fingers like that 'Boris from Goldeneye' chap !"

"He looks like 'Smiffy' out of the 'Bash Street Kids' !!!

"We don't have Strongbow, we've only got Dry Blackthorn !"

"He looks like Hans Huebner, that German guy who wrote the Virus Toolkit !!"

In a matter of weeks, Mike had mastered the ins-and-outs of WOD and then set his eyes on the new e-mail infrastructure that was creeping around the place. Spending huge amounts of money on courses, including one where the course was cancelled but he went and stayed in the hotel anyway, Mike came back and used this knowledge to assist the desk with tasks that would normally require specialist knowledge, thus saving huge amounts of service delays.

Away from the office at lunchtimes was the Parkway Tavern, where Mike notched up numerous kills on 'Area 51', even though the guns were dodgy !!

Anyway, before this begins to sound like an obituary, Mike is now moving on to Gloucester and here is a reminder of his last day at ASL....

The dreaded pictures from that day !

(Apologies to Min for the over-zealous use of the camera )
