Instant setback after the 100-mile journey down the M5 and that was that the cafe at Telegraph Hill was not open on Sunday mornings !!! However, the cafe at the bottom part of Babbacombe was willing to provide the necessaries....... This was the first free day after qualifying for Matt and I and was somewhat special...... no instructor,..... just us, the training and the environment.......... VERY special !!
The camera did not travel for this occasion so I only have a couple of bits of text and the dive-plans..... however, it was great !!! Having used so much air on the OW course, I personally found that I was more relaxed and managed a full couple of 70+ minute dives using less than 110 Bar from a 240 bar fill !!........ one day I may start eating words and using Nitrox but Matt was the same,,,, we could have spent ages down there in, comparatively, excellent vis. !! The only hiccup that I could mention was that Darrell's fin-strap broke within two minutes of him getting in the water !! ... nuff said - fortunately, he got a spare and we were off !............

The only other thing that I can recite from the log-book was that Matt loves the crabs in two ways:
1) Saying 'hello' ("Do you want to step outside?") to them underwater;
2) Being a runner to put them back in the sea when the kids insist on fishing them out with their nets !
This was also the first time that Ali came down to Babbcaombe. Diving is certainly not a spectator sport but Matt and Darrell both had family in tow so there was a large supporter's club on the shore........
